Anne Maddern is your CanDo Member for Maryborough.
Anne was born in country Queensland, educated in both State and private schools and as a mature age student, completed her qualifications to become a registered property valuer. She is married with two adult children and currently owns a valuation practice with her husband Lloyd.
Anne and Lloyd moved to Maryborough in 1985 after having lived in various cities around Queensland. Maryborough welcomed the family when they first arrived and has been a wonderful community to live and work in. Maryborough is a city with a proud history, historical old buildings and dwellings combined with more recent developments, a city which is very involved in the arts and culture, sport and education, a city renowned for the excellence of its engineering industry and agriculture. It is a city to be proud of and Anne is passionate in her support for maintaining and growing all the best features of this town and community.
Anne because of her work as a property valuer, travels widely in the Electorate on a daily basis and understands the relationships of the various communities which make up the Electorate.
Anne's passion is helping people. She was chairman of Meals on Wheels Fraser Coast, an organisation which delivers meals to 200 clients in need each day with the assistance of over 100 volunteers and a small but very important paid workforce. Anne is also the President of the Quota Club of Maryborough, a service organization dedicated to fund raising for cancer research and support, and for helping disadvantaged women and children. The activities of the Club such as the local Bookfest bring her into contact with members of the community, something which she finds most enjoyable.
Recently she has been actively involved with a group of patients and supporters in lobbying the Government to have a dialysis unit put into the Mayborough Hospital. Funding has been committed and planning is under way. Now Anne and the group are moving to lobby for other services into the local Hospital.
Over the past ten to fifteen years, it has saddened both Anne and her community to see so many services taken out of our community, the loss of so many services once provided in the Hospital, the closing down or downsizing of Government Departments, the winding back of the vital engineering industries. As part of the CanDo LNP team in Government, Anne will work tirelessly to assist in the rebuilding process so that this community will again be a vibrant part of the great State of Queensland. Anne has demonstrated with her community work that she has the capability and stamina needed to serve her community in this capacity.
