Bruce Young

Bruce Young is your CanDo Member for Keppel.

Bruce, 50, is a Central Queenslander born and bred. He is married to Capricorn Coast GP Geraldine and they have three children. As Capricornia Coast locals the family have lived in Yeppoon for 19 years.

Bruce is a diesel fitter by trade who has worked in the mining and heavy transport industries. He has worked as a workshop foreman and then as a equipment manager and now owns and runs a cattle property just north of Yeppoon.

He has a long history of involvement with community interest groups including the Rockhampton-Yeppoon water pipeline, a committee member for the establishment of St. Benedict's School at Yeppoon and chairman of the steering committee for Nerimbera residents to have the closed primary school as a community facility.

"There is a need for a representative and a government with the energy vision and management skills to make the most of the bounty of beautiful natural resources and assets," Bruce said.

Bruce has the qualities to achieve what is needed and is ideally suited to working closely with Campbell Newman in government.

"We have had second-rate services in the Rockhampton –Capricorn Coast area for too long from a Government that is tired, lacks energy and takes Central Queensland for granted.

"I am determined to make this wonderful part of the world a place where we can bring up our kids and grandkids in safety and with the certainty of getting a job in the future."
