David Gibson is the CanDo Member for Gympie.
Formerly general manager of the Gympie Times newspaper, David is a graduate of the Royal Military College Duntroon and served as an army officer before embarking on a career in media marketing and management.
David lives locally with wife Alicia and their three children and is heavily involved in the community. He has been involved in Apex, the Cooloola Gallery Management Committee and the Board of the Australian Institute of Country Music and is currently a board member of Deaf Services Queensland.
David’s foremost objective is to ensure that the Gympie Electorate gets the services and infrastructure it needs.
The upgrade of the Bruce Highway and the Gympie Hospital helipad, increased city train services, better health care and rebuilding the Mary Valley are amongst his top priorities, he says.
“The campaign I started during the 2006 election continues,” David says.
“It is my job to take the fight to the Labor Government on behalf of the people of Gympie to help find solutions to the problems in our area.
“My core objectives have been and always will be the same – to put people first.
“My love of this area and the pride in its people is all the inspiration I need to continue providing Gympie with the strong local voice that it deserves.”
