Mike Horan has been a Member of Parliament since 1991 and is currently Shadow Attorney General, Shadow Minister for Justice and Racing & Shadow Minister for Open Government.

Mike and his wife Helen have lived in Toowoomba since 1978 and have been involved in many school, sporting and community groups throughout that time.

Before entering Parliament, Mike was General Manager of the Toowoomba Showgrounds, running agricultural shows, exhibitions, greyhound racing, speedway, concerts and numerous expos and events. He was the driving force in the purchasing and establishment of the new Toowoomba showgrounds on the western side of the city. Prior to coming to Toowoomba, Mike ran a dairy farm near Gympie and prior to that he was a rugby league player and player/coach.

His hobbies include rugby union, rugby league and breeding Australian stockhorses. Mike and Helen have two sons and one daughter.
