Biography
Jeff Seeney has been a Member of Parliament since 1998. Following the 2006 State Election Jeff was elected the Leader of The Nationals, Leader of the Opposition and Leader of the Queensland Coalition, a position he held until 21 January 2008.
Born in Brisbane, Jeff grew up in Monto and has lived in the Callide electorate for most of his life. He attended the local high school before completing his secondary education at the Brisbane Grammar School. He has since completed a certificate in Rural Business Management from QUT.
Prior to entering Parliament Jeff served as a Councillor on the Monto Shire Council between 1992 and 1998 and as Deputy Mayor from 1994. He is also a former Chairman of the Burnett Inland Economic Development Organisation (BIEDO).
Like most Queenslanders, Jeff is passionate about sport, particularly cricket and rugby union. It was Jeff’s love of sport and a desire to improve the cricket fields in Monto which first propelled him into politics and convinced him to stand in the local council elections.
As a Member of State Parliament, Jeff has served as a Shadow Minister in a range of portfolios, including Natural Resources, Mines and Energy, Police and Corrective Services and Treasury. Jeff was also Deputy Opposition Leader and Deputy Leader of The Nationals from February 2003 to September 2006.
He is committed to decentralisation and ensuring regional Queensland shares in the state’s economic growth, which will in turn alleviate the growing pains being experienced in the burgeoning south-east corner.
He is passionate about improving Queensland’s water supplies and developed wide ranging and well-received water policies for south-east Queensland, the Toowoomba region and regional and rural Queensland ahead of the 2006 State Election.
Jeff is married to Therese and the couple have three children, Dan, Helen and Thomas.
His hobbies include; fishing, reading, music and boating.

Thank you Jan for stating the obvious, it is a department out of control with inexperience and a sense of loathing for parents.
The Minister has always shirked her responsibility. Just what is her job again and how much does she get paid to pass the buck?
Ms - Dear Mr Springborg, I am appalled at the use of speed cameras as a tool for further revenue collection especially
considering the hard times being endured. Collecting speeding fines from people a few kilometers over the speed limit cannot be
considered a remedy to decrease our road toll...nothin...
LNP's vision - Dear Mr. Springborg, I for one am sick of Labor's lack of vision and extremely poor record in managing the state.
Fact is Labor has not had a vision at all. I would like to hear LNP's vision for QLD for the next electoral term and beyond as
state govt. Every state construction at this pr...
BOATING FEES - Perhaps it's the name! Captain Bligh mighn't like boats, any more!!! Our boat that has been our home for 15 years
is on the market but with the financial situation how long it will take to sell is anybody's guess. 130% increase in registration
- just a tad over CPI wouldn't you say? And ...
Government fees and charges - I have found over the last few years that this State Labor Government is all about maximising fees
and minimising endeavours to help the people. They are not for the people in any way, shape or form. All we can do is vote them
out next year. Perhaps, you could "forget...
Is he Serious? - Is Kerry Shine really serious with that comment? Having heard that comment on 612 ABC that was my initial
reaction. Isn't the Attorney General suppose to put criminals in jail via laws. This is a total failure on Labor's part. They are
too soft on criminals while being too hard on the vic...
Dr. - Dear Mr Springborg, I am appalled at this latest move to wipe out the large and efficient Royal Childrens Hospital in
favour of a single substitute at the Mater. I have spent my whole working life at the Mater and cannot agree with this crazy
decision. You must oppose the decision . With over a mill...
Ms - ADOPTION CONSULTATION PAPER. I hope the LNP keep the pressure on the government re: changing the legislation. After
waiting so long to see the current biased legislation abolished I am fearful that the report will be filed away and the status quo
maintained.
