Queensland Thinks Bligh Lied

20 Years under Labor

Channel 7 News ran a phone/email Poll on 3rd of February on whether people believed Anna Bligh made a decision on ASSET SALES before the State Election; with the result given on Channel 7 News.

With 4657 total votes (a reasonable sample), 95.4% (4441 votes) said YES (they think she had decided before the election).

In other words 95.4% of those people DON’T BELIEVE CAPTAIN BLIGH on this issue.

Tony Abbott seeks to overturn
Wild Rivers declaration in Cape York

The Queensland Government says that it supports a better life for Aboriginal people but it has effectively locked them out of their land by making economic development on Cape York almost prohibitive through over regulation and red tape.

Very few Cape York people or organisations have the tens of thousands of dollars needed to penetrate this legislative and regulatory jungle.

Honesty and
integrity in elections

Political parties, candidates and other individuals who release false or misleading advertising during election campaigns will face fines of up to $10,000 under new laws proposed by the LNP.

Speaking at the LNP State Council meeting on the Sunshine Coast, State Opposition and LNP Leader John-Paul Langbroek released a draft Private Members Bill designed to ensure truth in advertising during election campaigns.

"Integrity and accountability in Government starts with being upfront with Queenslanders – something this Labor Government seems to have forgotten after being in power for almost 20 years," he said.

Weekend Australian 05/12/2009

Queensland politics has been poisoned by one party’s longevity in power and refusal to heed the lessons of the Fitzgerald inquiry

WE didn’t know it then, but 20 years ago conservative politics in Queensland was on the cusp of almost two decades of electoral oblivion. As a 21 year old, I was campaigning to enter state parliament for the then National Party, which had governed Queensland for 30 uninterrupted years. We had built the moden Queensland, secured the most solid financial base in the nation and offered employment and lifestyle opportunities that made us the migration bud of the continent.

But the odour of corruption was overpowering, and on December 2, 1989, Wayne Goss took his Labor Party to electoral victory while I took my seat in parliament in a reduced and deflated opposition. It’s ironic then that 20 years later the same issue now confronts the Labor Government in Queensland led by Anna Bligh. By thumbing its nose at the lessons from corruption royal commissioner Tony Fitzgerald after such a long time in power the Labor government has allowed itself to be infested by a culture of corruption.
