Labor's Anna Bligh and Tim Mulherin will take credit for the old 1930's Mackay Police Station refurbishments and use this as an example of Labor working in Mackay.  The truth is the opposite, Labor takes Mackay for granted, they take the riches from the area and spend them elsewhere, LNP Candidate for Mackay, John Kerslake said today.

"The refurbishments of the old Mackay Police Station only occurred when Labor's Anna Bligh and Tim Mulherin where embarrassed after it was exposed in the media that our local Police Officers were working in dangerous conditions.

Better deal for agriculture under LNP

Published in Central & North Queensland Written by John Kerslake

Queensland agriculture would get a far better deal under the LNP, the party's annual conference heard over the weekend.

LNP Candidate John Kerslake for Mackay said LNP Leader Campbell Newman made it clear that when it came to the four pillars of the Queensland economy, none was more important than agriculture.

High school students in Mackay will be given the opportunity to attend ANZAC commemoration ceremonies in Gallipoli under an initiative announced today by the LNP, local LNP candidate John Kerslake said.

"We are all aware of the very special place the ANZAC history and spirit has in our national identity," Mr Kerslake said.

Whilst Mackay residents are struggling to get access to vital health services and our hospital is under budget pressure, we learn some of the architects of Labor's health payroll debacle were given golden handshakes worth half a million dollars.  Meanwhile, Mackay health workers are still not being paid properly and not one Labor Minister has been held accountable for a bungle that will cost $220m to fix.  We have heard nothing from Labor's Tim Mulherin on this issue, his silence is deafening.

Health Workers Forgotten by Labor

Published in Central & North Queensland Written by John Kerslake

Queensland health workers have received another slap in the face with one of the architects of the $220 million health payroll bungle receiving a prestigious award.  Here in Mackay we have health workers engaged in industrial action fighting for a fair outcome on wages and conditions, they deserve the best deal possible don't they?  Has Labor forgotten or even care about our health workers?  I believe Anna Bligh pays health workers nothing but lip service with empty promises whilst again Labor's Tim Mulherin remains silent.  Tim Mulherin will never step up to provide real representation for Mackay Health workers.

LNP Candidate for Mackay, John Kerslake, said the LNP's Get in the Game policy would support grassroots sports development in Queensland and help families with cost of living pressures.

John Kerslake said the three-year, $16 million initiative would encourage more Queensland children play sport in local clubs and assist community clubs with grants for equipment and field improvements.
