Labor MP Kerry Shine should explain to local residents why he voted in support of another attack on family budgets – this time cuts to the private health insurance rebate, LNP candidate for Toowoomba North, Trevor Watts said today.
"Yesterday in State Parliament, each Labor MP backed the Gillard governments move to cut the rebate, which will place even more pressure on already stretched family budgets," Trevor Watts said.
"Mismanagement of the resources sector by this tired, 20-year-old Labor Government has delivered nothing but uncertainty," Mr Watts said.
Mr Watts said the LNP will use an improved system of statutory regional planning to determine appropriate areas for resources development.
LNP Shadow Minister for Agriculture, Food and Regional Queensland, Andrew Cripps, has emphasised the importance of agriculture in the LNP's four pillar plan to get Queensland's economy back on track, visiting the Locker Valley and Toowoomba over the last two days.
Mr Cripps visited the Gatton Campus of the University of Queensland yesterday to inspect new equine veterinary facilities and met with stakeholders in the agriculture sector in Toowoomba today to discuss concerns about declining departmental services to farmers.
Trevor Watts, has launched a scathing attack on Labor's Kerry Shine and the Anna Bligh-led Labor Government, for failing to enable Police to tackle armed crime more effectively.
Mr Watts said police were doing the best they could with limited resources, but were being stifled by a government which is not doing anything to help.
Cutting taxes, fixing planning laws, re-empowering councils and increasing State Government support at the highest level were key features of the LNP's Property and Construction Strategy, LNP Candidate for Toowoomba North, Trevor Watts, said today.
