The LNP's economic blueprint will cut payroll tax, red tape and regulation to give small businesses in Currumbin the power to create more jobs and get government off their backs, said LNP Member for Currumbin and Shadow Minister for Small Business, Jann Stuckey.
Announced by LNP Leader Campbell Newman this week, the blueprint commits an LNP Government to cut payroll tax by raising the exemption threshold from $1million to $1.6million over six years.
Reducing cost of living pressures for local families in Burleigh and ensuring a strong four pillar economy to provide local jobs now and into the future are the key election issues for our community and to get Queensland back on track, LNP candidate for Burleigh, Michael Hart said today.
"The March 24 election offers a clear choice for local residents. A choice between more of the same deception, spin and wasted money we've had from 20 years of Labor or an energetic and focussed LNP team committed to getting Queensland back on track," Mr Hart said.
During debate in State Parliament this week, Currumbin MP Jann Stuckey blamed successive Labor Government's for the water torture faced by Gold Coast residents as a result of the ill-fated South East Queensland water reforms.
"Legislation to dismantle Allconnex by 1st July 2012 will give certainty to affected councils but it will bring further, as yet undetermined, cost burdens to Gold Coast residents," Ms Stuckey said.
Labor MP Christine Smith should explain to local residents why she voted in support of another attack on family budgets – this time cuts to the private health insurance rebate, LNP Candidate for Burleigh, Michael Hart said today.
"Yesterday in State Parliament, each Labor MP backed the Gillard governments move to cut the rebate, which will place even more pressure on already stretched family budgets," Mr Hart said.
Major traffic delays occurred on the M1 this morning after a crane went into a ditch on the Pacific Motorway at Mudgeeraba on the Gold Coast.

Jann Stuckey MP, Member for Currumbin has again raised questions over the shelving of the former Public Works Committee inquiry into the idle $1.2 billion desalination plant at Tugun.

On advice from Main Roads, Beechmont Road between the intersection of Nerang-Murwillumbah and North Road will remain closed for between 5-7 days, weather permitting.
This is to allow for the removal of debris including boulders, loose rock, mud and trees, and is in the vicinity of around 2,000 to 3,000 cubic metres.
Gold Coast Candidates will join LNP Leader Campbell Newman by making a pledge to the people of the Gold Coast – that an LNP Government will get Queensland back on track.
Michael Hart, the LNP CanDo candidate for Burleigh, says "Tuesday's holdup at the local Westpac branch in James St and a spate of break-ins on the Gold Coast Hwy demonstrates the lack of commitment to fighting local crime.
"It is obvious that the Labor member is out of touch with the local community and State Labor is not serious about stopping crime in the Burleigh area. Burleigh locals deserve a member who has a proactive approach to reducing crime other than offering passive personal rewards.
