Give us more Police in Burleigh

Michael Hart, the LNP CanDo candidate for Burleigh, says "Tuesday's holdup at the local Westpac branch in James St and a spate of break-ins on the Gold Coast Hwy demonstrates the lack of commitment to fighting local crime.

"It is obvious that the Labor member is out of touch with the local community and State Labor is not serious about stopping crime in the Burleigh area. Burleigh locals deserve a member who has a proactive approach to reducing crime other than offering passive personal rewards.

"The Labor member needs to take local crime seriously and get more police on the beat," said Mr Hart.

Mr Hart said "Tuesday's robbery demonstrates that there is an urgent need for a police presence in the Burleigh CBD even if they don't yet have a permanent base."

"It's taken far too long for any progress to be made on a Police Beat, especially as it was announced in March last year. To date we haven't even had the public consultation that was promised so how long do we have to wait under this government for something to happen."

"It's time for a change to a Government that will provide us with a visible Police presence that will protect our community."

Michael Hart

Michael Hart is your CanDo Member for Burleigh.

Michael moved to the Gold Coast in 1986 with his wife Sally and their young family. All three of their children, Tim, Jessica and Hayden, were educated at local public primary and secondary schools in the Burleigh area.

He is a strong advocate for grassroots community consultation, listening to people's concerns and acting upon them. In addition, he is president of the Pacific SLSC, was the first president of the reformed Palm Beach Community Consultative Committee, and is an active member of Burleigh Rotary and local Chambers of Commerce.

He wants to fight for the residents of the area as part of a strong CanDo team, that stands up for the people of Burleigh. Planning for the future, not living for the political moment, Michael will work hard for locals.

Michael knows that by getting action on the basics and cutting waste, a CanDo government would save money and deliver more. That means action to address the rising costs of living as well as delivery of key infrastructure and better services for locals.
