Labor MP Christine Smith should explain to local residents why she voted in support of another attack on family budgets – this time cuts to the private health insurance rebate, LNP Candidate for Burleigh, Michael Hart said today.
"Yesterday in State Parliament, each Labor MP backed the Gillard governments move to cut the rebate, which will place even more pressure on already stretched family budgets," Mr Hart said.

"It is obvious that the Labor member is out of touch with the local community and State Labor is not serious about stopping crime in the Burleigh area. Burleigh locals deserve a member who has a proactive approach to reducing crime other than offering passive personal rewards.
Member for Currumbin Jann Stuckey MP has condemned the Labor Government for failing to properly consult with the local community affected by the proposed Boral quarry bordering Tallebudgera Valley.
"A reply to a Question on Notice* I asked in Parliament in the final sitting week of last year reveals a total failure to consult with local residents over the designation of this site as a Key Resource Area (KRA) in the State Planning Policy 2/07," Ms Stuckey said.
LNP Candidate for Burleigh, Michael Hart says he will spend part of today's public holiday removing graffiti from a building he painted over just two weeks ago.
Mr Hart repeated the line that is fast becoming his mantra "I will keep removing the graffiti myself until these vandals get the idea we won't tolerate it".
Earlier today soil tests were carried out in Rudd Park, Burleigh being described by workers as sited " where the police station will be".
