Mr Kaye said despite the State Traffic Task Force and the Forensic Crash Unit being stationed at Camp Hill, the station would not be open to the public and the station would not be providing police on the beat for the local area.

The Bligh Labor government was set to give Queensland's 400,000 businesses more costly and confusing red tape in the form of onerous new Workplace, Health & Safety regulations from January 1.

State Member for Redlands Mr Peter Dowling said, "The 20-year Labor government had rushed to sign-up for the new regulations – covering no less than 400 pages – with little or no consultation with business. In less than four weeks and with Christmas-New Year to boot, Queensland's 400,000 businesses will be forced to comply with more red tape, more paperwork and a whole raft of new regulations that few have heard of and fewer understand."
