Peter Dowling, State Member for Redlands said that he was shocked to learn this week that the Redlands electorate has had a one of Queensland's highest increases in type 2 diabetes patients diagnosed.
Mr Dowling said, "I was taken aback to learn that in my electorate, type 2 diabetes rates went from 4.51 per cent in 2007 to 5.21 per cent in 2011, an increase of 15.65 per cent in the past four years.
The Labor Government is a real risk to all of Queensland while Campbell Newman's track record is one of action, the State Opposition said this week.
Peter Dowling, State Member for Redlands said, "The Premier Anna Bligh and Australia's worst treasurer Andrew Fraser lost Queensland's coveted AAA credit rating, the only State to lose it, and are wracking up an $85 billion debt."
LNP candidate for Greenslopes Ian Kaye, today welcomed the announcement by Campbell Newman that a CanDo LNP Government would reduce the cost of commuting for loyal public transport users by reintroducing discounted weekly fares for go-card users.
Mr Kaye said regular commuters who used go-cards to travel on buses, trains, and ferries in South East Queensland nine times in a week would be rewarded additional trips free.

LNP Member for Redlands Peter Dowling, today said that despite Labor's ill-named and ill-fated building boost grant, building approvals have declined to an historic 10-year low in Queensland as highlighted in the ABS Building approvals figures released this week.
Mr Dowling said, "The trend estimate for the number of private sector houses approved fell 1.5% in September for all of Queensland is not only appalling for Queenslanders but those living the Redlands electorate."

The Government have yet to appoint a second permanent Police officer on Russell Island which begs the question is there a hold-up?
State Member for Redlands Mr Peter Dowling said that he still has concerns in relation to the posting of a second Police Officer on Russell Island, following a commitment by the Minister to have a second officer on both Islands.

Mr Newman included in his visit the Heritage Pacific Era housing project in Capalaba where he slammed the Government for stamp duty increases for home buyers, a tax supported by Labor State Member for Capalaba Michael Choi who incorrectly said that the stamp duty only applied to house and land packages over $500,000 and would not affect many blocks of land on offer at Heritage Pacific's Era site.
