"I call on Mr Wilson to provide clear figures on the impact of the carbon tax on the local area so the community knows exactly where they stand."
The same modelling also shows that, among other increases, the cost of electricity for an average Queensland home will increase by $190 per year, on top of the already sky-rocketing increases experienced since Labor's easy promise that "no Queenslander will pay more for electricity".
"As I move around Keperra, Ferny Grove, Ferny Hills and Arana Hills the cost of living is the single biggest issue and people cannot afford yet another huge hike in electricity prices." Dale Shuttleworth said.
"Mr Wilson should remember that he was elected by his constituents. To cheer on Labor's carbon tax as a Labor Minister in a Labor government is to betray this trust in favour of his Party."
"The very least he can decently do is provide locals with an honest appraisal of what the carbon tax means for jobs, business, and the cost of living in our local area. We must have a firm assurance that the carbon tax will not place further burdens on already tight family budgets."
Dale Shuttleworth said the battered Queensland state budget would also take another hit with a $1.2 billion black hole created thanks to Labor's carbon tax.
"Under Labor, Queensland's debt levels have skyrocketed and will be at $85 billion in three years," Dale Shuttleworth said.
"The interest payments on Labor's debt alone, even without the carbon tax will be $100 million a week, or $595,000 per hour – just imagine what that money could do for our region.
"Unlike Labor, the LNP will oppose the carbon tax all the way because it is bad for Queensland. We'll work for Queensland, not for ourselves."
