Labor's rail promise circles the platform again

"Labor has taken local residents and commuters for granted for far too long. Today's reannouncement of the Narangba Train Station upgrade is yet another example of their arrogance. They are all talk and no action." said Mr Grimwade.

"The only thing that's changed since 2009 is the cost has gone higher and higher. In the June/July 2010 edition of his newsletter, Labor MP Mark Ryan announced $15 million for Narangba Train Station upgrade works.

"Then on October 20, 2010 Labor Members Mark Ryan and Mary-Anne O'Neill announced the upgrade of the Narangba Train Station at a cost of $23 million dollars. In that press release they stated:

"The station upgrade will cost around $23 million ........currently in the final planning stages with work expected to commence in the coming months."

On November 8, 2011 the Caboolture Shire Herald published a story outlining the delays and cost blow outs after being alerted by LNP Candidates for Morayfield and Kallangur.

In this article Labor member for Morayfield stated " this would also include 50 parking spaces which had not been previously announced.", It also stated that "the project was still on budget, despite the addition of the parking spaces".

On 14th February 2012 the Caboolture Herald reported that the Narangba Train Station upgrade will only produce an extra 20 car parking spaces and would now cost $26 Million.

"What we see here is a failed 2009 election promise, being recycled as a 2012 state election promise at nearly double the cost.

"If the Labor Member for Morayfield had listened to regular commuters he would not have proposed this monument to the Bligh Government's lack of planning. Instead, he would have fought for affordable fares and greater parking access for commuters" said Mr Grimwade

"Labor have increased public transport fares by 15 per cent year in year out and will do so again next year if re-elected.

"The LNP have announced a policy to reward regular commuters by offering weekly tickets and fare discounts, saving regular loyal commuters up to $400 a year on their transport costs" Mr Grimwade said.

Its time for change, Its time to get Qld back on track.
