The Bligh Government's IT debacles have spread from payroll to cancer patients, LNP candidate for Mulgrave, Robyn Quick said today.

Mrs Quick said reports of yet another Queensland Health computer glitch could be catastrophic for cancer patients and their families throughout Far North Queensland.

Mr Peter Dowling MP, State Member for Redlands said he was frustrated that the funding announcement to dredge the channel between Victoria Point and Coochiemudlo Island would take two years or more to deliver.

Mr Dowling said, "It is absurd that it should take so long to get critical infrastructure delivered, with as many as 15 services to be disrupted over the next two months alone!"

Lisa Newman, wife of LNP Leader Campbell Newman, challenged a capacity audience in Strathpine yesterday to continue the generous giving that has become such a characteristic of Queenslanders since January's natural disasters.

Mrs Newman was the guest speaker at a morning tea held at The Coffee Club Strathpine organised by the LNP's candidates for Pine Rivers and Kallangur.

LNP gives small business a big voice

Published in Central & North Queensland Written by John Kerslake

John Kerslake, LNP Candidate for Mackay is encouraging local small business owners to have a say on how excessive red tape and overregulation are affecting their business.

"Many small businesses in Mackay are suffering under onerous regulations and red tape imposed by a State Labor Government obsessed with bureaucracy and paper shuffling," John Kerslake said.

Gavin Hassett of Paddington has put 15 months of hard work into renovating his Paddington home. He's ready to sell and has found his "dream home‟ just a few streets away, but with recent changes in stamp duty his dream has become a nightmare.

"The removal of the stamp duty discount on the family home has added 30 to 40 thousand on to the cost of a house," Mr Hassett said.

Housing market slides in western suburbs

Published in Metro Central Written by Saxon Rice

Brisbane's western suburbs were feeling the pinch from Bligh Labor's greedy grab for cash through its heartless scrapping of the discount for owner-occupiers.

Deputy Opposition Leader Tim Nicholls joined LNP candidate for Mount Coot-tha Saxon Rice and local real estate agents in Paddington yesterday to discuss the housing disaster.

LNP Shadow Minister for Education Mr Bruce Flegg MP advised that the Labor Government have a proposal where millions of dollars will be offered now, to hundreds of State School teachers who will lose their positions in the State School sector at the end of 2014, when Year 7 transition to High School.

Mr Peter Dowling MP, State Member for Redlands said he was in total amazement and disappointed yet again at the absolute waste from Labor who are prepared to allocate $25 million dollars for up to 500 teachers to be made redundant now, a total of 36 months before the 2015 transition date.

The LNP Shadow Minister for Education Mr Bruce Flegg MP stated that the Labor Government are trying to spin the fact that a school at 100% capacity and about to experience approximately a 20% increase in enrolments in just over two years time is somehow acceptable.

Mr Peter Dowling MP, State Member for Redlands said he was concerned that the Labor Government would even think that this is suitable, especially in the Redlands Electorate.

AJ Wyllie Bridge rebuild stalled yet again

LNP candidates in Pine Rivers and Kallangur are calling on the State Labor Government to confirm if contracts have been issued for work to commence the reconstruction of the AJ Wyllie Bridge, and if not, explain this lack of progress to local residents and businesses.

"The LNP have been led to believe that at this time no contracts, including the initial design contract, have been issued for work on the AJ Wyllie Bridge rebuild," said Mr Trevor Ruthenberg, LNP Candidate for Kallangur.
