Minister asleep at the wheel over emergency call delay

The Emergency Services Minister has been accused of being asleep at the wheel after he dismissed concerns a witness to a robbery was put on hold for five minutes after ringing "000" as thieves broke into the neighbouring shop.

State MP Fiona Simpson said Minister Neil Roberts' acceptance of the delay was a disgrace and showed he had no care to ensure the problems were addressed.

Longer term solution needed for bar

State MP Fiona Simpson has called for longer-term sand pumping solutions to be investigated for the Mooloolah River Mouth.

Ms Simpson welcomed news that recent dredging had successfully cleared the shoaling at the mouth of the river which had caused havoc over Christmas-New Year. However, she said it was time for an independent investigation of the best long-term solution and maintenance program around the vitally important Mooloolaba Harbour Entrance.

Sippy Downs town centre a step closer after approval

The Sippy Downs Town Centre is one step closer after the State Government planning Minister has given the green light for Woolworths to construct the major commercial, retail and residential hub as part of the mixed-use development contained in the Sippy Downs Town Centre.

Member for Kawana Jarrod Bleijie is happy that the project has been given the green light after a prolonged delay.

Community forum to discuss highway upgrade

Simpson calls for action on 000 emergency delays

State MP Fiona Simpson has called for urgent action over '000' call delays, saying they could risk lives after an incident at Mooloolaba this week.

Ms Simpson said the robbery of the 'iLove Computers' Authorised Apple Reseller Store at Bundilla early on Monday morning was bad enough but now it had been revealed how the man who called "000" while it was happening was put on hold for 4-5 minutes before being transferred to police.

It has been nearly twelve months since consultation forums were held with stakeholders within the residential park sector and the Member for Glass House, Andrew Powell MP, has welcomed the release of a discussion paper that encourages comments and submissions from the public.

"Changes to this sector are a big deal to many people in the Glass House community who have chosen to make a permanent home for themselves in one of many manufactured home parks throughout the Sunshine Coast.

Nicholls launches red tape busting mission in Kawana

Flaxton footpath welcome news to locals

The recent announcement that a footpath would be constructed adjacent to Flaxton Drive between Glen Eden Court and Nimbus Drive has not only impressed the Flaxton community but the local member is pretty pleased as well.

Member for Glass House, Andrew Powell MP, was approached by locals who were keen to see a footpath established along this increasingly busy road to ensure locals could walk around their beautiful patch of the Hinterland in safety.

Member for Maroochydore Fiona Simpson called for an urgent audit of transport needs for staff working in the government precinct in central Maroochydore.

In order to work out some alternative solutions to the car parking problems in the Cornmeal Parade area, it was agreed that the Department of Public Works would survey staff working in the new government building to determine their travel requirements.
