Member for Glass House Andrew Powell has affirmed the LNP's commitment to eradicating violence against women by taking the oath to never to commit, excuse or remain silent about violence against women on this White Ribbon Day.

"Today is an important day to raise awareness of violence against women, it's also a day for every man to swear to never harm or condone violence against women," LNP Leader Campbell Newman said.

Kawana businesses urged to attend small business forum

Small business is the backbone of our economy and it has long been neglected by Labor State Governments.

That's the blunt message from Kawana MP Jarrod Bleijie.

Member for Glass House Andrew Powell has responded to community feedback by calling on the Government to redirect funds raised from new speed cameras along the D'Aguilar Highway back to road safety in the local community.

"It is disappointing to see there are some irresponsible drivers who choose to speed along this road or drive in a reckless manner and perhaps installing speed cameras is one way of warning these drivers to be careful.

The speed limit of Caloundra Road will be investigated by the Department of Transport and Main Roads, following the Minister's response to a petition that was recently tabled in the Queensland Parliament.

Junior Sports Star aims for Deaflympics

Harry Greenland is in Year 7 at Talara Primary College.  He is also a record breaking athlete, after recent sporting achievements at the National Cross Country Championships, State Athletic Championships and National Swimming Championships.

Member for Kawana Jarrod Bleijie has sponsored Harry, to assist his family with the cost of competing in regional, state and national sporting championships.
