"Neighbourhood Watch has been running in Queensland since 1988, but at the moment it seems our local committees are struggling to attract members," he said.
"More members means more eyes and ears keeping a watch for criminal activity in our neighbourhoods, and helps support our police in their daily activities.
"Neighbourhood Watch is all about improving safety and security within communities, encouraging closer ties between neighbours, and informing the wider community about what options there are when it comes to preventing and reducing crime.
"Enough is enough. Every day we hear of crimes taking place in our communities, and I would like to see more people step forward to help tackle the problem.
"If people want to play a part in cracking down on unsocial and criminal behaviour, then they should join their local Neighbourhood Watch committee.
"By attending committee meetings every month, the word soon spreads about what is going on in our communities and residents are more aware of how they can defend themselves and their property."
