ANNA Bligh and Labor simply could not be believed on their latest education promise to double the number of early learning centres, the LNP said today.

LNP Shadow Minister for Education Dr Bruce Flegg said after promising 240 kindergartens, Labor then cut the number (as shown on page 28 of the Mid Year Fiscal and Economic Review 2011/12) and so far only 121 have been opened or will be open for 2013.

The State Opposition has said schools across Queensland will share in an additional $115 million of funding under the LNP's Building our Future Schools Fund.

LNP Shadow Minister for Education Bruce Flegg slammed the Queensland Teachers' Union (QTU) for playing political games by misrepresenting this policy outcome which actually delivers additional new funding to government schools.

LNP Leader Campbell Newman today announced $115 million of additional investment in Queensland's education future when he unveiled the LNP's Building our Future Schools Fund.

"Schools are the heart of local communities for our families, but this tired, 20-year Labor government has failed to adequately provide the level of infrastructure required," Mr Newman said.

One of the most unacceptable education outcomes in Queensland was set to be worsened by the Bligh Labor government's decision to rush the introduction of the national curriculum ahead of other major states, the LNP said today.

LNP Shadow Minister for Education Dr Bruce Flegg said remote area parents educating children at home by distance education as well as children attending remote, small and single-teacher schools had all but been ignored by the tired, 20-year Labor government.

Bligh Labor was attempting to bribe parents of kindergarten children with an election eve promise to fix 20 years of building and playground neglect, the LNP said today.

LNP Shadow Education Minister Dr Bruce Flegg said it was the same old tune from tired old Labor that had had 20 years to fix things including sub-standard buildings, playgrounds and equipment, and staff facilities.

Providing iPads to Year 7 students in just 20 schools is "too little, too late" from a tired, 20 year old Labor Government that has failed Queensland children in the basics of literacy and numeracy, the State Opposition said today.

The Bligh government's roll-out of the online school curriculum has proved a disaster for teachers and parents using internet-based distance education.

LNP Shadow Education Minister Dr Bruce Flegg has called for urgent action to iron-out the bugs in the system and re-issue digital 'MySticks' for students that weren't working.

Premier Anna Bligh must fully explain how teachers would be sacked under her deal with Julia Gillard, the LNP said today.

Deputy Opposition Leader Tim Nicholls said Queensland teachers deserved to hear from the Premier exactly how the scheme would work and who would decide if they (teachers) were 'under-performing'.

The State Opposition said the final report into last year's NAPLAN tests gives the Labor government a damning fail mark by showing Queensland students are not meeting national averages for literacy and numeracy.

"This shows that when it comes to education, Premier Bligh and Education Minister Dick talk the talk, but they can't walk the walk," Shadow Minister for Education Dr Bruce Flegg said.
