Queensland is on the front line to provide early detection and response. An LNP Government will act to achieve the best health outcomes and protect Queenslanders.
Establishing the Australian Institute for Tropical Health and Medicine with James Cook University, will encourage research into how to limit, prevent, and decrease the transmission of infectious diseases from the Asia-Pacific region into Queensland.
This is part of the LNP's positive plan for Queensland to grow a four pillar economy to create jobs for families, as we understand the importance of getting the basics right.
The LNP understands the importance of protecting both Queenslanders and our agriculture industry from the threat of disease.
An Australian Institute for Tropical Health and Medicine will include bases in Townsville, Cairns and the Torres Strait, to increase our readiness to combat biosecurity risks.
The proposed Institute will provide training programs for health workers, particularly in disease surveillance, control and risk identification, and help to build an integrated health security network focused on the significant biosecurity threats.
This initiative is part of the LNP's focus on Science and Technology and our commitment to revitalise front line health services, delivering much needed health research infrastructure to protect all Queenslanders.
You can't improve health services and combat bio-security risks without a change of Government.
It's time for a change. With your help, a strong and united LNP Government will get Queensland Back on Track.
