Ray Hopper is your Member for Condamine.
Prior to his election in February 2001, Ray was a primary producer and dairy farmer in the Bell and Cooranga North districts, and was heavily involved in the local P & C, the local rural fire brigade, the local show society, and was a representative of the Australian Milk Producers Association. Ray and his family have had a close association with the annual Bell rodeo and he still announces at this event every year.
Ray was born in Jandowae, on the March 3, 1960. He has three adult children.
Ray is passionate about primary production, camp drafting, rodeos and horse training, and enjoys spending time with his family and friends.
Ray has been a very active member of the Shadow Cabinet, holding the shadow portfolio’s of Public Works & Housing, Racing, Employment and Training, Natural Resources and Mines, Natural Resources and Water, Food Security and Agriculture, Primary Industries, Fisheries and Rural and Regional Queensland, and Primary Industries, Fisheries and Food Security. He has also been Opposition Whip. Ray has held positions on many committees including Public Accounts and Public Works and the Estimates committee.
He is a dedicated local member who is enthusiastic about people in the rural and regional communities of Queensland, and is committed to ensuring primary production, small business and industry thrive in the Condamine electorate.
The Condamine electorate encompasses the western and southern areas of Toowoomba, the larger townships of Dalby, Pittsworth, Oakey and Clifton and the districts of Bell, Kaimkillenbun, Bowenville, Cambooya, Nobby and Pilton.
