Rosemary Menkens

Rosemary Menkens is your Member for Burdekin.

Rosemary Menkens is married to Ray and has three children. Prior to entering Parliament in 2004, she was a Director of the Menkens family farming enterprises and was responsible for the company’s administration. She was also Chairman of the Burdekin College of TAFE Educational Training Advisory Group and a member of the Barrier Reef TAFE Community Council (Townsville).

Rosemary has combined her family and business life with a career in the education field as a vocational teacher, specialising in the fields of business management, communications and office practice. She is currently a board member of the Lower Burdekin Home for the Aged Committee of Management.  Previous board positions were the Cathedral School of St Anne and St James (Townsville), Burdekin Agricultural College and the Ayr Hospitals Board.

Her involvement with community organisations has included Zonta, Rotary, Red Cross, the Rural Women’s Network, and the Australian Women’s Forum Club. She is an Honorary Life Member of the Bowen River Turf Club and of the Burdekin Junior Eisteddfod and currently patron of many local organisations.
