Support For Families
Support For Families
Today there are over 1.2 million more Australians in jobs than before this Government was elected. Nearly 60% of these have been full time jobs.
102,800 more jobs for 15-24 year-olds were created in the 12 months to June 2018. This was the strongest result of any financial year on record.
We are working to build a stronger economy, with more jobs, by: backing small businesses, encouraging hard work, boosting exports, fixing the budget and building infrastructure.
ACCESSIBLE, AFFORDABLE CHILD CARE
The Government’s new Child Care Subsidy is making child care more accessible and affordable for nearly 1 million families.
A typical family is around $1,300 better off a year.
Our changes have reduced child care out of pocket costs for families by more than 10% within the first 6 months of the new Child Care Subsidy.
Families can see how they will benefit at www.education.gov.au/eccc
MORE AFFORDABLE, RELIABLE ELECTRICITY
Our plan for affordable, reliable power includes: a price safety net to protect customers; a big stick to stop energy company rip offs of customers; and a technology neutral program to underwrite new reliable energy generation.
Our plan is already getting results. AGL, Energy Australia, Origin, Alinta and other retailers have cut prices for customers on standing offers by up to 15%. This means half a million families and small businesses will benefit from lower power prices.
In 2018-19, 4.5 million Australians will get tax relief of $1,080 per year. Over 10 million taxpayers will get some tax relief.
We’re making income taxes lower, fairer and simpler. By the time our tax relief plan is fully implemented, 94% of taxpayers will pay no more than 30 cents in the dollar.
Tax relief has been delivered for 3.4 million small and medium businessesemploying over 7 million Australians.
We will fight Labor’s plan for $200 billion in new and increased taxes – on retirees, housing, incomes, family businesses, investments and electricity.
The Government’s $100 billion roads, rail and airport plan will bust congestion, and make life easier for Australians.
We are investing in major highway upgrades, congestion busting roads, better local roads and rail, commuter rail and faster rail to reduce travel times and improve safety.
INVESTING IN SCHOOLS
Our guaranteed funding commitment invests an additional $37 billion in schools over the next decade (to 2029).
This increases average funding per student by 62% over a decade.

BETTER HEALTH CARE
Federal funding for public hospitals will more than double compared to Labor – $13.3 billion in 2013-14 to $28.7 billion in 2024-25.
This means record numbers of hospital services, doctors and nurses.
More Australians are seeing their doctor without having to pay. Over 133 million free GP services were delivered last year – 27.3 million more than in Labor’s last year.
Since we came into government, over 2,000 medicine listings worth $10.6 billion have been added to the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme.
We have taken steps to make private health insurance more affordable. We are also requiring private insurers to categorise products as: gold; silver; bronze; basic, and use standard definitions to make it clear what’s covered and what isn’t.
All 12 and 13-year-old girls and boys now have free access to the Gardasil 9 Vaccine, to protect them from the HPV virus.
Our No Jab, No Pay policy is protecting children from preventable diseases. The immunization rate is now over 94% – the highest on record.
