Campbell Newman
Campbell Newman is the Leader of the LNP and your CanDo Candidate for Ashgrove.
A civil engineer by profession, Campbell Newman had a 13-year career as an Australian Army Engineer, retiring at the end of 1993 with the rank of Major.
Following his service in the Army, Campbell worked as a management consultant, then to Queensland agribusiness, Grainco Australia, with responsibility for the operations of the entire company, including export grain terminals in Mackay, Gladstone, Brisbane and Melbourne.
Elected as the Lord Mayor of Brisbane on 27 March 2004, Campbell served the people of Brisbane until Sunday 3 April 2011, when he resigned to contest the state seat of Ashgrove.
During his time as Mayor, Campbell and his CanDo team delivered transport and road infrastructure, new swimming pools and a library. His CanDo Council team also spearheaded the change to 100% use of green electricity and created the greenest local government authority in Australia.
As Leader of the Liberal National Party, Campbell Newman is drawing on his diverse experience to plan for Queensland's future.
Mr Newman is committed to bringing about an end to the tired, 20 year old Labor Government, cutting the waste and making this great state CanDo Queensland, powered by Queenslanders, not politics.
Campbell Newman is married to Lisa and has two daughters.
