Shane Knuth
Assisting the Leader in North Queensland
Member for Dalrymple
Biography
Shane was elected to Parliament in 2004, was re-elected in 2006 and has worked tirelessly and passionately for rural Queensland ever since.
He was looking forward to continuing to serve the Electorate of Charters Towers but under the changes to the state boundary redistribution, the Electorate of Charters Towers was abolished and the new Electorate of Dalrymple created., taking in almost 70% of the Tablelands and extending to Moranbah in the south.
Shane decided he would seek endorsement as a candidate for Dalrymple and continues to work diligently for the Charters Towers Electorate while spending time on the Tablelands to meet the people and learn of their issues.
Prior to election, Shane worked for Queensland Rail for 19 years.
Shane and wife, Heather, own a small pastoral property so he understands the concerns of the man on the land.
Throughout his life, Shane has been deeply involved in rugby league football; in his earlier years as an A-grade player and state representative, and later on as an avid supporter.
Shane’s interests are wide and varied, including family; sport; church; camping; fishing; shooting and various community groups and activities.
