Brisbane shines bright as City Hall Lights return

Brisbane’s much-loved City Hall Lights return tonight, creating a dazzling festive display that will delight families and boost local businesses this Christmas.

Running nightly until Christmas Eve, the show will feature jaw-dropping projections, festive music and a heart-warming storyline for all ages.

The free City Hall Lights is an annual highlight of the Christmas in Brisbane program, which includes a packed calendar of free and affordable festivities for people of all ages.

Many retailers, cafes and restaurants will extend trading hours and offer Christmas specials, making it the perfect time to shop local, enjoy a meal and make a night of it in the city.

This year’s original story, A Christmas Blackout, is written by Brisbane author M.H. Flynn.

When a blackout hits on Christmas Eve, Ned and Ted are worried Santa won't find them in their new apartment, but the community bands together with candles, music and Christmas spirit to ensure Santa's safe arrival.

City Hall Lights runs every 15 minutes from 7:30pm to midnight, 5 - 24 December in King George Square.

The Lott by Golden Casket is the official event partner.
